Cluck, Cluck

So, I am walking around gingerly today as I wait for my OPK to give me a dark line. I swear, I think over the last three months alone that I have managed to depreciate my vision quite a bit--doing what you ask? Staring at and analyzing OPK's and HPT's--looking for that second line, squinting at it under bright lights, etc.

Maybe third time around will be a charm? I don't know why I was under the illusion that if you put the sperm and the egg together in good timing, then bam, they are supposed to do their job and fertilize. Since I got a big zilch on my cycle last month with the wonder drug Clomid, I am not going to hold my breath this month.

Which brings me to ponder, "what comes next?" What's that, injectibles you say. Well, that was indeed my next proposed course of action until I started reading about a few pregnancy outcomes from other women on injectibles. Let's see--the first one that leaped out at me was the woman who, on her first month of injectibles, got pregnant with QUADS. Whoa, slow down there, quads...gulp. Twins are great, triplets (been there, done that briefly) but Quads. So, I am rethinking my quick trip to injectibles. I remember all too well my maternal anxiety about taking care of three babies and trying to do it well. Unfortunately we never got that opportunity, but the thought still sends me back to the drawing board, quaking in my boots.

So, let's hope that third time is a charm. We gear up for the big IUI this weekend. Yes, we are actually doing it at home (audience: hush, gasp). Did I mention, ladies, that you can find anything on EBAY--like a brand, spanking new speculum! Yep, my husband will be digging for my cervix once again muttering brilliant comments like "it's dark in here."

Stay tuned...more tomorrow.

Hi Joy! I saw a post from you on FF, and I noticed the little link at the bottom to your blog :-). How glad I am that I visited. I'm going to bookmark it so I can stop by and read sometimes. As you said, it is nice to read about other people going through similar issues. I've been trying to conceive for a year and am also using donor sperm. Oh, and...we have something else in common. I am in ministry, which of course means that theology is also an area of interest for me :-). Here is a link to my blog, which I created in late September. It is also-- in the interest of positive thinking-- the website for my future baby. I hope you might stop by sometime: http://ourlittlestlittle.aboutmybaby.com/
