Okay, so I am wondering what our yearly Christmas tradition will be. So far our tradition seems to be watching "Miracle on 34th Street" and arguing about when we have to get hubby's mentally challenged brother for Christmas. Oh, and we open one present on Christmas eve to whet our appetites for the grand finale the next morning.
So, help us come up with something better for a Christmas tradition. I'd like to hear what you all do, whether lovey-dovey and sappy or zany and fun. We've got to get some new traditions around here!
Meanwhile, I'll see if I can survive the traditions we currently have...

I actually have several traditions I am considering.
My husband's Italian mother has a magnificent tradition of the seven course fish Christmas Eve dinner. Lobster is the main course and the prior courses include cohogs (sp) served in a shell instead of a dish, munchie appetizers of crab meat, clams, and oysters. A small pasta dish with shrimp is another course and it is all consumed in a several hour ordeal and ends with opening all of the presents on Christmas Eve. Many Manhattan's are served throughout the evening.
This has all been new to me in the past several years since I married my Yankee husband.
My traditional southern Christmas consisted of a Christmas Eve church service followed by dinner and opening one present. Christmas morning was filled with excitement of opening the rest of the surprises and then a late breakfast was served (country ham, bacon, grits, sausage, biscuits, jelly, eggs and butter). After breakfast, we had a family reunion we had to get showered and dressed for that lasted until the evening. It was so enjoyable to be with family on Christmas day. I miss that.
Merry Christmas.
Julianna,
I love your traditions! Of course, the fact that they involve lots of yummy food surely helps! Thanks for sharing. Maybe hubby needs to start cooking me a big Christmas breakfast....I'm liking this idea.
Merry Christmas!
Days before Christmas everyone on the house (including guests) have to write a letter to Santa. And then, on Cristmas night everyone reads their letter.
