Kitty drama...

I think Patches is suffering from being an indoor, spoiled cat. She has never had to chase down a critter to make her dinner nor has she ever been in a fight to preserve her life. Because of this lack of natural stimulation, she often resorts to what hubby and I have labeled "kitty drama."

Yes, about every three months Patches decides there is a monster in our house. And, it is her job to stalk this monster and treat it as viscious prey. Lately, the monster has been living in our bathroom. So, as we browse back and forth from the kitchen to our bedroom or office, there sits Patches, head cranked around the corner of the bathroom, her ears at full alert, tail perked, waiting to pounce on the monster.

It never lasts long, maybe only a few weeks until she decides the monster is gone. She becomes less skiddish around the monster's headquarters and returns to her slovenly cat state of eating and sleeping for a living, lounging wherever she likes.

Perhaps people are like that too. We seldom have to operate in true survival mode. So, we create a certain amount of drama for ourselves so that we can work out our primal instincts.

Right now, I have this monster in my head called a sinus infection and there's going to be some drama if the doctor doesn't give me an antibiotic tomorrow...

Oy! Just recovered from sinus/bronchial infection combo. Would be hiding under blankets if not for Cipro!

Hope you get the antibiotics and fast, and recover quickly.

I don't know you, but saw your blog link on a post at FF. As a cat lover, this particular entry struck me. I've never thought about life that way (re: "drama" and "survival mode") and it explains a lot! You're a terrific writer and I enjoyed reading some of your entries. Best wishes with your beta on Friday!
