We just returned from our 31 week ultrasound. The Doctor Nerdy Professor was out of the office due to a death in his family, so we just had a check-in on our boy.
He is still all BOY. The nurse took about eight shots of his wee-private parts. That was a bit of overkill, but we're glad he isn't shy. He was shy, however, with the effort at a 3-D facial picture. He had his elbow crooked across his face and was happily fiddling with his foot also in front of his face. Oh to be that limber again....
The nurse took the usual measurments and he is estimated to be 4lbs, 2oz now. That puts him happily in the 65% growth percentile and anywhere from one to two weeks ahead gestationally. My sister has declared that I should pack the preemie clothes away now as he is going to be a good sized baby. We shall see.
The results of the glucose tolerance test were low=51. I guess I don't have gestational diabetes, but perhaps the opposite problem. The nurse said the doctor will talk to me about that next week. In the meanwhile, I will google obsessively to make sure that low blood sugar is not harmful for the wee one (not that I have ever noticed having low blood sugar or felt any effects of it).
So, all in all, things are good. My biggest gripe=heartburn all the time. ALL OF THE TIME.
