We had the pleausure of attending my niece Tara's first soccer game today. I'd never been to a soccer game proper, but this one was fun to watch.
I think as exciting as the game was, it was even more amusing to watch all the people gathered. I always get the warm fuzzies when I see families collected around their children yelling positive things like "good job" and "way to go!" It was a very positive and moving sight, especially since it was 92 degrees outside and the sun was blaringly hot.
Ever since we lost our triplet babies, I have had this bad habit of focusing on a child and imaging that one of mine might have been like him/her. Of course, now, I anxiously await this little boy named Gabe and wonder equally what he will be like: mellow and happy, excited and tempermental, etc. I can only hope, no matter what the combination, that he has a zest for life and moves through it with confident assurance much like my niece today on the soccer field.
So, cheers to Tara and her first game! She did an awesome job and displayed more grace and agility than I will ever have...
