37w, 5d Doctor's Visit

My cat's reaction to my latest doctor's visit...YAWN.

I was hoping that somehow today's doctor visit would shed light on current events, future events, on something in general. It was pretty boring and typical, a repeat of past weeks. Gabe passed the non-stress test, the ultrasound, etc. I passed with a moderate BP and no weight gain or swelling.

I actually broached the subject of going late with the doctor to get his views or plan of action--certainly a conversation I never imagined having with him! He prefers that things go naturally (no surprise there), but if 40 weeks rolls around he will consider inducing. Meanwhile, he said to take some tylenol if my back hurts, enlist the aid of my personal massage partner, buy a heating pad, and keep on trucking...blah, blah, blah.

So, I fished for perhaps a dreaded internal exam just to see if there was any progress. No, Doctor Nerdy Professor prefers to wait until next week (Thursday) when I will be 39 weeks. He always smiles kindly when I roll out my list of worries and reaffirms that everything is looking just great. I bet he has some note on my chart the reads "gestational hypochondriac."

Meanwhile, my back does hurt and I am moving s-l-o-w-l-y these days. Energy levels and mental capacities have gone caput. I'm ready to go hibernate til this boy wants to come out and make his grand appearance.

What a boring, exciting, tiring, grace-filled time it is!
