Just a quick note to say we are home! The proud Daddy was able to post in my absence and even get some pictures up. Woo hoo!
Labor was not what I expected. The C-section was inevitable and a blessing in disguise. I had the rare placental problem where the placenta grows into the wall of the uterus. During and after birth, there can be massive bleeding and we thought I might have to have a hysterectomy. The good Doctor Nerdy Professor was able to save the uterus by packing it and hoping that with the removal of the packing the next day that all would be well. So far, so good...
But, to the main attraction...my boy is the most beautiful babe I have ever seen and has captivated every corner of my heart. I felt instantly bonded to him as if my heart was already moving about outside my chest. I ache to be far from him and I marvel just to watch him lay quietly in my arms. It is the most intense joy I have ever experienced.
Such joy makes the aches and pains of recovery diminish. And, such joy makes this long, winding road to parenthood all the more bittersweet.
I thank God for this blessing in our life...
