Yesterday I discovered what will be "our song" between Gabe and myself. I bought him a Disney collection of songs and we were dancing in his room. The song 'You are my Sunshine' came on and I got all choked up. I looked my slightly-shorter-than-myself dance partner in the eyes and sang "you are my sunshine, my only sunshine, you make me happy when skies are gray." He is my sunshine, the brightest light in my world. I thank God for his health and his presence, so awesome and precious.

I sang that song to Simon in the NICU, and it's been our song too. Now it's like magic - whenever he's fussing, I'll sing YOU ARE MY SUNSHINE...and it will immediately get his attention and calm him down. The lyrics are simple and beautiful.
