My dearest Gabriel,
What a month we've had! Your personality has exploded as you have become more and more aware of the world around you. I can dare say now that you know who Mommy and Daddy are by sight and shower us with big, edible smiles every day.
While last month's theme was hands, this month you've discovered the wiggly appendages used for kicking. And, my how you have mastered that art. You love to raise both feet up and look at them, and even recently you grab them as if to make their acquaintance. Your father and I delight in every new discovery and mimic your squeals and growls of joy.
This month you started becoming displeased with reclining all the time. You now hunch forward to be sitting in an upright position so you can see everything that is going on. With the many newly found discoveries around you, you have also grown to dislike naps entirely. So, your father and I made many purchases this month in the toy/exercise line to keep you challenged and happy. You now talk to us regularly. And, I must admit that you sound very much like a little boy. You make growling noises and what I imagine to be your dump truck sounds in toddlerhood. Your father and I talk back and hold entire conversations with you based on your monosyllabic responses.
Not too long ago, I was feeding you and we were all snuggled in our bed. Our darling cat, Patches, walked by and sat close in your line of sight. Your eyes nearly bugged out of your head as you took in all the details of her creatureliness. I marveled as I watched you, realizing that you have no idea of all the awesome creatures out there in God's world. I can't wait to show you an elephant, giraffe, ducks, dogs, etc. What a blessing you are to my often world weary soul. I have so many dreams and hopes for you, Gabriel. It almost scares me when I realize how much I love you and what a huge part of my being that you are. As we ponder giving you a sibling, I wonder if I can love another child as much as I love you. I am sure we can, but I just want you to know how special you will always be.
Love,
Mommy

Really great pics Joy, and it was really nice to read this. I like how I can relate so much, having Sam so close in age. Just wait until they're both 2 and 3 and 4...!
Look at Gabe just beaming at daddy up top there. Precious.
