The first cookie experience was a hit--I bought some teething cookies this week and thought we would try them in a month or so. But, being the impatient adventurer that I am, I broke them out and let Gabriel try one. At first, he just grabbed it, as he does all things in close proximity, and brought it to his mouth. Then, as he shoved it in, he got a surprised look on his face. He pulled it away again, looked at it, and then shoved it back in his mouth with great vigor. We never saw the tip of it again. We were careful not to let it break--instead, he just gummed it and got a good taste of it. It was a definite hit.
Oh, and I make a point of tasting whatever I give my son, even the yucky, yucky squash, sweet potatoes, etc. The teething cookie tastes like a muted animal cookie--not quite as sweet but still good. You gotta love the "firsts" with little ones!
