The lip...

Gabriel has mastered the art of manipulation. Well, I suppose it is not that intentional or well thought out, but he has already mastered the wrap, that is the wrap of Mommy and Daddy around his finger.

Yes, when things are not going quite as Gabe thinks they should be, out comes THE (bottom) LIP. It is a most pitiful site and renders one completely helpless; you must respond to THE LIP or else...

Obviously, Gabriel inherited this trait from my sister. When she was little, my mother and I would tell her that a little birdie was going to come land on her lip if she didn't stop poking it out. That would only tick her off further and elicit greater drama. It was the power of THE LIP that made us give in to her whims, usually much to my dismay as her older sister.

So, we respond to THE LIP. We always respond, of course, but THE LIP means things are dire: like someone is not getting their food in a timely manner or else those diaper wipes are not in accordance with temperature regulations. THE LIP means serious business and we hop to make the world right again. Thank goodness that does not take much at this time--extra hugs and smooches, food delivery, new diaper, or maybe some quiet time in the rocking chair.

Glory be to God for dappled things...and THE LIP.

I read about THE LIP yesterday but didn't have time to comment then..

How hilarious! I LOVE the LIP! It is such a ploy isn't it? And to be practicing at such a young age, makes you wonder how much trouble you're going to be in later on? He's got you hook line and sinker, there's no escaping THE LIP. We've got a couple of LIPPERS in our house too, haven't caught them on camera as well as you have though!

I am such a big fan of photos, and esp. of blogs that frequently post photos, so you keep 'em coming too! They're great!

My mom use to warn me that I was going to trip over my lip if I didn't stop pouting! LOL!
